Our Nuses are staging a clinic with a difference – at their local pub!
Kate Jones, Pippa Quinn and Louise Fitton will be holding a special Smoking Cessation at The Hope pub on Eccles Old Road in Salford tomorrow (Wednesday March 10), between 5pm and 7pm.
The nurses will be on hand to provide useful information and advice to any smokers wishing to ‘kick the habit’, as well as offering free carbon monoxide tests.
The clinic is being staged as part of national ‘No Smoking Day’.
Neil Turton, chief executive of Salford Health Matters, said: “National No Smoking Day is not about banning smoking, or picking on smokers, it’s about helping and supporting those people who want to stop.“The message we want to get across is if you want to kick the habit then we are here to help. “We have never staged anything like this in a pub before, but we thought it was a great way of engaging with people in a relaxed, informal environment.”
Sean Ashworth, manager of The Hope pub, which is opposite the Royal Salford Hospital, added: “This is an innovative idea and when Salford Health Matters got in touch to ask if we would like to be involved, we had no hesitation in saying yes.”
Practice Nurse, Maureen Wiggins, will be appearing on Salford City Radio's Healthy Living Show Today at 1pm. Tune in to 94.4 FM or visit http://www.salfordcityradio.org
